Suffering because of Bad Manners

By Pastor Roger Redmond
It is good manners to always believe God, to walk by faith, to honor Him by your decisions, to separate yourself from those who have not faith.  It is rather foolish to suffer as an evildoer, for the pleasures of this life, which will only last for a few years; instead of suffering for Christ because His blessing will last for all eternity.

Act_13:18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness. Eze_11:12  And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you. 1Co_15:33  Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

Evil communications refer to more than conversation:  "The word rendered "communications" means, properly, a being together; companionship; close contact; converse. It refers not to discourse only, but to contact, or companionship."  Taken from Barnes e sword study 1 Cor. 15:33

In other words, if you keep company with immoral or people who know not Christ, you will soon be as they are.  You can suffer in life because of your own doings, as an evil doer,  1Pe 4:15  But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Suffering in this manner has no future.  Israel as a nation allowed evil communications to corrupt good manners.  Remembers the twelve spies?  Ten brought an evil report and two believed God: and they did not enter the Promised Land for forty years. Why?  They were influenced by the evil report!

Pro 9:13  A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing. Pro 9:14  For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, Pro 9:15  To call passengers who go right on their ways: Pro 9:16  Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Pro 9:17  Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. Pro 9:18  But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

I remember the words of a beautiful song: "Altar of Prayer"  The last verse says, "If your heart is weighed down with problems and you are caught in sins wicked snare" - "you can find peace and rest in your Saviour just meet at an Altar of Prayer".    satan desires to sift you and deceive you but Christ came to you at the Cross: meet Him there.
