Mat_25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Do you want to have your inheritance with Christ in eternity? Psalm 103:11-17 are promises to those who fear Him - respects Him. It is not for those who walk in the vanity of their mind. If you are the product of His saving grace, then you are "…his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,…" And it is God's expectation that you do those works, "….which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Vanity of the mind = that which is opposed to God, emptiness, that which is morally wrong. You are to set your mind on Christ, Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. It is a conscious decision to set your mind on things above. A mind left to its self is described in Eph 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Eph 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But you have the new man from Christ, Eph 4:20 - 21, But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: (Notice the sentence does not end but continues to {v22}) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; (Both old and new can't rule together – put off the old ways) {23} And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (Sentence still has not ended) {24} And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Renewed in the spirit of your mind: Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
You put off and put on: Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: renewed in knowledge by the Word of God.
