How Short is God's Hand ?

By Pastor Roger Redmond
From where did the idea come: that I am saved so I can live as I please, go to church when I want, give as I please or ignore the life God has given me? Answer? from the world, the flesh and the devil.

Num 11:23  And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

Hebrews 1:3, Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Eph 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Several years ago, maybe 25-30 years, I brought a tape measure to church, that everyone might measure the Hand of God.  When I announced the service, I asked everyone to bring their tape measure.   I wanted everyone to measure the hand of God in their life!

In reality, you can't measure God's Hand with a tape measure.  However, we can shorten the Hand of God in our lives, Jer. 14:9-11.  By our unbelief,we have made Him as a mighty man that cannot save.

Today, may we look at our lives in the light of His Word, Psa. 119:105, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  And in the searching light of the Holy Spirit, Pro_20:27  The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

You Can Miss The Kindness And Love Of God Our Saviour, By Not Hearing And Believing His Word About The Finished Work Of Christ: Joh 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

King Agrippa shorten God's Hand, Acts 26: 26  For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. Act 26:27  King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. Act 26:28  Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

Multitudes upon multitudes shorten God Hand in their life simply because they will not believe for themselves.  If you have never made Christ your Saviour by believing on Him for yourself; you are at this moment:  It is not that you will be at a later date! You are there now!

  • Under the wrath of God, Joh_3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
  • Condemned now, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18
  • Rejecting the will of God now: 1Ti 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 2Pe_3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
  • Ignoring God's love for you now; a love that is beyond understanding, Rom 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. His love for you is the same love He had for His Son,   In Christ, you will find the Father's love for you as great as His love for the Son, Joh 17:23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

The Believer Can Miss The Exhortation of God About Their Daily Life By Not Heeding  His Warning.    If you have believed on Christ for the eternal life you have eternal life.  Christ by His payment for you in His death, burial and resurrection guarantee you eternal life.

  • I am not here to convince anyone of their salvation only you know if you have believed for yourself on Christ.    Only the LORD can allow you to be convinced by the truth of the Gospel.
  • The salvation that gives you deliverance from hell is anchored in the truth of the gospel that was completed in a time already pasted (Christ has already died).
  • You become identified with Christ in that work by resting your faith in Him. Consider these verses: Hebrews 9:12. Heb. 1:3, 1 Cor. 5:19, 21.  Notice it is a work already done.  The death burial has already happened!
  • To rest your faith in that passed work gives you the present possession of eternal life.  Joh 6:47  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 2Co_5:18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; Eph_1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Eph_1:6  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved Eph_2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Col_1:13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

But Salvation Of The Spirit Is Not The End But The Beginning. Words of exhortation to the saved; it is words of wisdom, Romans 12:1-2  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  • Where did the idea that I am saved so I can live as I please, go to church when I want, give as I please or ignore the life God has given me.
  • The words of exhortation are words of warning to the believer, Heb 2:1  Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Heb 2:2  For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; Heb 2:3  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
  • You won't escape: there will be tears at the judgment seat of Christ. Go to 2Cor. 5:20, Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
  • There are people around you that you will impact for Christ. They are looking to see if Christ matters to you. Gal. 4:19, My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,  "My little children…." He is speaking to the saved.  Christ being formed in you is not the same as being indwelt by Him at the time of being born into God's family.  It is the spiritual growth of you in the knowledge of Christ.
  • When you are saved you are indwelt and sealed, Eph, 1:13-14,
  • the next step for the Indwelling Holy Spirit is working to conform you to the image of Christ.
  • He can only work through your cooperation. See 1 Cor. 6:19, 2 Cor.  13:5. If you know that then why not live in that manner.
  • The doctrine of discipleship is just as real as the doctrine of being born again. Joh 14:19  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. Joh 14:20  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

What impact does Christ living in you have on your life? "…..and ye in me, and I in you. When we are saved we are in Him and when we realize He is in us our life will change.  What does Col. 1:18 say? And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.  Ephesians 3:10-20.

You will never enjoy the Peace of God until you as a believer allow Christ to dwell in your hearts by faith.  How short is the Hand of God?  It is as short as you have made it by your unbelief.
