How to be Saved

How that Christ died

By Pastor Roger Redmond
It is how Christ died for our sins that I want us to meditate thereon, the record of His death as given in the scriptures. "how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;"

1 Cor. 15:1-3 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (If you believed the gospel as given.) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

Paul is saying: I gave you what I received: "how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;"   and if you have turned from the certainty of God's gospel to man's gospel your faith is in vain.   Paul had delivered the message of God's salvation and knowing the enemy by false teaching and false teachers (satan) would change the gospel message; he said," ...keep in memory what I preached unto you..."   What did Paul preach and believe? " how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;"

 It is how Christ died for our sins that I want us to meditate thereon, the record of His death as given in the scriptures.  "how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;"

He died as the promised Redeemer, Tit 1:2-3  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

He died as the God-Man, Joh 11:27  She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. He came in a body prepared for Him, Heb. 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:  God is in Christ, 2Co 5:19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

He died alone with our sin, Mat_27:46  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?  He was alone because He had taken our sin 2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

He died shedding His blood, Heb_9:22  ".... and without shedding of blood is no remission. Rev 1:5  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, Heb 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Heb 10:19  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

He died bearing our sins in His own bodyJoh 6:51  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.  1Pe 2:24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Heb 10:20  By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

Isaiah 53:4-7  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

He died that you might have eternal life, Joh 6:47  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Why Should You Believe Christ For Everlasting Life?

Because God was in Christ doing the work of salvation: To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor. 5:19.  By the work of Christ, God settled the debt of your sin.  He charged all of your sins to Christ and counted Christ's righteousness to you. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21.  Then gave you His promise of eternal life, And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1 John 2:25.

How do you receive eternal life?  By believing Him for the promise He made, And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1 John 2:25.
