Should never be loose with the Word of God, Psa 12:6  The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psa 12:7  Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Especially with the gospel. "…. so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth"  Makes it impossible for Him to be crucified on Good Friday. John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. The first day of Passover ranked as a sabbath day and the feast of Un leaven bread.

There is no doubt that God taught a lesson to Jonah that His divine purpose will not be frustrated and left unfulfilled.  Jonah found that the LORD God is inescapable. In His Grace and Mercy, He delivered Jonah.  There is a great lesson for all people, in that the LORD God, the Redeemer, and the Creator is inescapable. All that happened had to happen in the way it happened and in the time it happened for His message to have the effect it had on the people of Nineveh.
Remember Jonah did not jump overboard 1:12  And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

Christ was innocent and was taken by wicked hands of the Jews and crucified Acts 2:23 "…..ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain." Jonah was guilty as a Hebrew and the Gentile hands were innocent, Jonah 1:13-16.
The central person in this book is not Jonah but rather the LORD.  The truth of the matter the LORD is the center of all of life.  Just stop and think, Act_17:28  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Who can you compare Him with? That is the question He asks of you. Isa 40:18  To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? Isa 42:8  I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.  Isa 43:11  I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
See, His care for His prophet; He found Jonah and gave him His counsel, Jon 3:1 And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Just as He would many years later find Peter and give Him counsel, John 21:15-22.
Waiting for what? For our Christ to come and to take us to our home in heaven. Is your citizenship in heaven today? Have you been born again, 1 Peter 1:23.
It is different when you are looking for the Person rather than the day! It is different when you believe on a person; It is different when you are walking with a person
We live on earth as a people whose home is in heaven. Php 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
The warning is to us, if we fail to judge our body, He will. 1Co 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. " Many sleep " A word for Christians who died in the LORD.
1Co 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. We are to inspect our own heart to see if we are allowing that which God has approved. Self- Judging is done with a view to correction; It is me coming to approve in my life what God approves. It is you determining by the Lord where you are in the light of where you should be.
Our lack of self-judging brings Chastening, 1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
The greatest obstacle facing humanity is our willful lack of understanding of God. Our spiritual condition is wrapped up in our dealing with ourself. Man does not see the sinfulness of sin nor does he see himself as a sinner or as one who needs to know the LORD in a personal way. And then to grow up in Him, Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving
We are the circumcision and the work of grace is the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts, Col. 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: The concision is those who added circumcision to the gospel. (Rom_2:28, Rom_2:29; Col_2:11; Eph_2:11) as merely mutilated. Compare Gal_5:12,
It is when you know Him you love Him, 1Pe 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: The Beauty of Christ is what He did for you and me: Isa 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: Isaiah 53:2 he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. It is His suffering and work of Redemption that gives Him His Beauty, Isaiah 53: 3-7,
